A Big Thanks To Our Staff
Synergia wouldn’t exist without a team of stellar educators and facilitators. Their gifts and talents are too numerous to list here, but read on for a glimpse of who they are and what they do. Many, many thanks to them all. They are amazing people, and an integral part of what Synergia is all about. Artec Durham and Drew McPherson were quite the pair this past fall, doing everything from paddling instruction, to cooking fantastic meals, to milling dead trees. Annabelle Schossig, who we just met last May on her 8th grade school trip, spent much of the fall training and apprenticing on the ropes course. Lindsay Colvin is a new mom and squeezes in her work here between parenting 12 month old Kaylan, and going to school. We don’t know what we would do without Gabriel Ross, who keeps the books and payroll in order, serves on the Board of Directors, and facilitates on the ropes course, or Jay Wondergem, who switches hats and comes to the rescue whenever he possibly can. Andre Wenn continues to be our tech guide and right hand man when it comes to our real area of expertise (just kidding) – documentary film making. Anna Stuffelbeam and Courtney Ryan were indispensable on the Adventure Course, and in October Yoko Silk traveled down from Eugene, Oregon to help out again after being a major force on the Cache Creek project last summer. All last year Kirsten Pierer worked behind the scenes doing everything from shopping and packing for trips, to cooking delicious meals for programs. Those we miss who we hope will join us for a trip or two this coming spring are Katie Stuffelbeam, back in Boston at Tufts University finishing up her master’s degree; Ori Bassoff who, among other things, continues to amaze us with his prowess on this newsletter; and Ian Reine who has returned to live in Santa Rosa. Kendra and Nathan are still WWOOF-ing across Europe (W.W.O.O.F. = World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms.) You can check in on those two yourself at www.windcheetah.org. Last we heard they had ditched the trikes for the winter and were in Paris for Christmas, after spending several weeks on an olive farm in the mountains above Nice, helping to renovate a 17th century Roman stronghold. (Our staff is nothing if not unique.)
